Royston Sinclair’s Family

Royston Sinclair was a Jamaican police officer who led a very private life, away from the public and media. So, there isn’t much information available on the internet about his birth date, birthplace, parents, siblings, education, etc. He was known to the public only after his marriage with Madge Sinclair. They got married in the year 1956 and divorced in 1969. Royston died on December 29, 2016. He was 83.

Madge Sinclair was born as Madge Dorita Walters, on April 28, 1938, in Kingston, Colony of Jamaica to Herbert Walters and Jemima Walters. Madge had a sister named Norma Foote. She is the third cousin of the late political leader and entrepreneur Marcus Garvey. She had two sons with Royston, Garry Sinclair and Wayne Sinclair. She worked as a teacher in Jamaica until 1968, when she left for New York to become an actress, leaving her sons with their father. She was divorced from Royston the following year.

In 1982, Madge married actor Dean Compton, to whom she was still married at the time of her death. She died on December 20, 1995, in Los Angeles, California, U.S. after a 13-year battle with leukemia. Her remains were cremated and her ashes were scattered in her hometown in Jamaica. She was awarded the Order of Distinction, the rank of Commander, by the prime minister of Jamaica.

She also voiced the character of Sarabi, Mufasa’s mate, and Simba’s mother, in the Disney animated feature film The Lion King. A five-time Emmy Award nominee, Madge won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress – Drama Series for her role as “Empress” Josephine in Gabriel’s Fire. Her film Conrack got her nominated for NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture. She had a net worth of more than $3 million at the time of her death.
