Damon Anthony Dash was born on the 3rd of May 1971, in Harlem, New York City. Growing up, he attended private schools for most of his high school life and this is where he was able to discover his potential to have a career in the music industry.
During his life as a teen, he worked in multiple jobs to support himself by sweeping floss at their local barbershop. He also had to work as a newspaper salesman to save enough money to buy his own sneakers and shirts.
He learned how to “hustle” early in life due to how his mother made efforts on raising her kids. Sadly, when Damon was only fifteen, her mother suddenly died of an asthma attack leaving him and his siblings to work for themselves.
