Antonio Pinedo Kahlo was born in 1932 to Cristina Kahlo and Antonio Pineda Chambon. He

has a sister named Isolda Pineda Kahlo, born in 1929. At the age of 18 Antonio decided to use his mother’s name rather than his father’s name. His father left his mother after his birth. Antonio died in the year 1974 and Cristina died on 8 February 1964.

Cristina Kahlo y Calderón was born June 7, 1908, to Guillermo Kahlo and Matilde Calderón González and was the youngest daughter of the Kahlo family. Her father worked as a photographer. Cristina grew up with her three sisters, Frida Kahlo (born on 6 July 1907), Adriana Kahlo Calderón and Matilde Kahlo Calderón, and one brother, Wilhelm Kahlo y Calderón. She got the chance to get to know her two step-siblings only after childhood. Her father was previously married to Maria Cardeña Espiña and had two daughters with her, María Luisa Kahlo and Margarita Kahlo y Cardeña.

Cristina was eleven months younger than her artist sister, Frida, and the pair were very close. Frida was married to a successful Mexican painter, Diego Rivera, and Cristina acted as a subject for both artists. After her husband left, Cristina and her children lived with Diego and Frida as a family. It was later revealed that Cristina and Diego began an affair.
